CONSULTANT CARDIOTHORACIC RADIOLOGY
Applicants are invited to apply for the post of Consultant in Cardiothoracic Radiology.
As the successful candidate you will be providing an expert opinion in Cardiothoracic Radiology. The Trust provides comprehensive cardiothoracic services including oncology, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, congenital and acquired heart disease and transplantation. Services are delivered across 2 sites with the opportunity to contribute at both hospitals. The RVI houses the Emergency Department and is a Major Trauma Centre. The regional tertiary Interstitial Lung Disease service is based there, with input from many national experts in the fields of Respiratory Medicine, Pathology, Rheumatology and Palliative Care. General Respiratory Medicine at the RVI and Freeman Hospital encompasses a wide range of services including asthma, bronchiectasis, COPD, CF, lung cancer, occupational lung disease and the regional rapid access TB service.
The Freeman Hospital is home to the Institute of Transplantation (the only centre in the country bringing together all aspects of transplantation under one roof) and the regional tertiary Pulmonary Hypertension Service, to which the successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute. There is a streamlined, rapid access lung cancer pathway with the possibility to be involved with diagnostic and therapeutic radiological aspects of care. There is scope to be involved in the tertiary cardiac imaging service encompassing cardiac CT and MRI in adults and children, including contributing to the internationally esteemed Congenital Heart Disease service. Imagers in the trust have access to the latest scanning hardware with a newly installed Siemens Sola MRI scanner and both Siemens Force and Flash dual source CT scanners. There is a thriving cardiothoracic research programme that works closely with radiology in the delivery of clinical trials.
In addition to the challenges of the role, we can offer you a commitment to teaching, education, research and audit.
