Job Description
This is a new appointment, for a Consultant Radiologist: General Radiology subspecialist interest in Breast Radiology, to support an increase in referrals to the breast service
The successful candidate will work closely with 3 other Consultant Breast Radiologists to provide cross cover for a total of 4 one stop clinics. Breast work will also include interventional procedures, in particular stereo and ultrasound-guided vacuum biopsy and excision. Colleague support for additional clinical activity (MRI and MDT preparation and attendance) will also feature in the job plan. Some flexibility in the working week will be required to ensure a full service is maintained at all times. The Wessex regional plastic surgery unit is based at Salisbury and there is radiological input into pre-operative breast reconstruction surgical planning and other relevant plastic surgical procedures. Involvement in clinical trials and audit is encouraged and expected. The Department has close links with Southampton and Salisbury NHS Breast screening unit.
There is flexibility with this post, to work full time or less than full time. Additional radiology sessions are available to support an additional subspecialist interest depending on the candidate’s expertise.
Applicants must have FRCR or equivalent and are expected to hold, or to obtain within six months, UK Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training and entry on the Specialist Register. A fellowship is not an essential requirement.
