About the Hospital:
One of Europe’s most modern and largest hospital trusts, The James Cook University site is the biggest of its type and has a wide range of specialties. This hospital was opened in October 2003 and has a capacity of 1,007 beds. Our radiology service has experienced a high level of success, and is growing rapidly as a result. Nearly all of our patients pass through radiology during their patient journey, making it both a critical hospital function and a place where we can positively impact the lives of our patients as well as other departments.
About the service:
The combined radiology departments provide a full range of digital imaging facilities including 2×1.5T and 1x3T MRI and 3 x multi-slice CT scanners and a fully equipped Endovascular room to theatre standards. There are 2 x 64 slice scanners and we are currently procuring a replacement 128 slice system which will be operational December 2016. Further 64 slice CT; 1.5T MRI and neuro-radiology interventional bi-plane equipment occupy a geographically separate Neuro-imaging department with a Durham University research orientated 3T MRI machine also available for NHS cases. There is Trust-wide second generation PACS with voice recognition reporting.
Consultant Radiologists work as a strong team both within the Division and with other clinical colleagues. Weekly MDTs and clinical meetings are held across all specialities to promote best practice and patient outcomes.
We are inviting applications for an enthusiastic and skilled colleague to join this team and help expand and develop the Radiology service
Applicants should possess full GMC registration, FRCR (or equivalent) and either already be on the Specialist Register or be within 6 months of receiving their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview.
The successful applicants will be expected to contribute to these services and the general workload, holiday and sickness cover for colleagues. The department operates extended and seven day working; sessions can be worked flexibly.
