Application us are invited for three posts (full time/part time) to join our established multidisciplinary team working in a new build hospital with state of the art equipment and innovative service models. Our Trust is conveniently located between Liverpool and Manchester – 2 internationally renowned cities with major airports, whilst St Helens and Knowsley areas offer a high range of facilities, from schools to leisure activities.
The posts will maintain and increase our current establishment of 17 consultant radiologists and allow further development of the imaging service, including extended day and weekend working. St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the leading acute Trusts in the North West of England. We provide a full range of acute adult services to our local population of circa 350,000 and provide tertiary services across a much wider area in the North West, North Wales and Isle of Man. We are a Trauma Receiving Unit and the Mersey Regional Burns Unit.
The Diagnostic Imaging Service at both Whiston and St Helens Hospitals was awarded the highest possible CQC rating of ‘Outstanding’ (the only such acute Trust service in the country to be awarded this rating). The department operates a 1 in 15 on call rota; with full SPR cover and separate interventional rota. We are a progressive friendly department and we can offer flexible working patterns including the potential for home working as part of the job plan.
Post 1 – Consultant with Sub Specialty Interest in Breast Radiology
This is an additional post working alongside three existing Consultants providing a full spectrum of breast services including MRI, ultrasound guided intervention, stereotactic wire placements and biopsies. The post would involve both symptomatic and screening work. There may not be a need for an on call component for this post.
Post 2 – Consultant with Sub Specialty Interest in G.I. Imaging
This is a replacement post required to support the existing service including including CT colonography, MR enterography and general G.I. investigations.
Post 3 – General Consultant Radiologist
This post will expand our general service provision. The candidate would be expected to be proficient but not necessarily expert across the spectrum of general radiology including CT, MRI and Ultrasound. Whilst a subspecialty interest would be welcomed it is not essential. Most areas of subspecialist interest can be accommodated, though particularly musculoskeletal imaging or interventional radiology and it is suggested that interested candidates explore this further in person.
For all posts applicants must have full GMC Registration and must be on the Specialist Register or be within six months of their CCT from the date of the interview.
These posts will be subject to an Enhanced DBS (with barred list for vulnerable adults and children) disclosure.
Potential applicants are strongly recommended to visit the department.
