Radiology at Northampton General Hospital is looking to recruit radiologists from the UK and overseas who are eligible for a consultant post.
We also welcome radiologists from overseas who have the FRCR and are looking to progress to CESR. For such colleagues, we are prepared to offer suitable posts and experience to facilitate an application for CESR and make them eligible for consultant appointment.
We have had major investment in our department and now have state of the art equipment on site. These include three new 128slice CT scanners; two MRI scanners; theatre specification interventional radiology suite and daybed area; Nuclear medicine unit with a fixed site PET-CT scanner; breast unit with provision of breast MRI and one stop clinics etc.
As our services continue to expand, we have a range of new posts to suit radiologists at any stage of their career and with any subspecialty interest.
We have services that are set up for all sub-speciality interests. We welcome colleagues who wish to do Vascular intervention / Non-vascular intervention / Paediatric radiology / Women’s Imaging / Breast Imaging / Cardiothoracic Imaging / Musculoskeletal imaging / Oncological imaging etc.
You will have a great work-life balance with facilities for working from home. The on-call CT work is outsourced at night as are any extra scans above job planned work. There are opportunities to do extra reporting and private work as well.
If required, we can offer further sub-speciality training locally or the opportunity to visit/work at other centres whilst working here. We will support your academic interests and you will have a generous study leave allowance and budget to match.
Northampton General Hospital is a large DGH with 700 beds. We are a centre for vascular surgery; oncology including radiotherapy; stroke, including hyper-acute stroke; renal/ nephrology; cardiology as well as a busy emergency department and other services.
Northampton is a great place to live and is well connected by road, rail and air. We are only about 70 miles to central London (1 hr by direct train) and 55 miles to Birmingham. Oxford, Cambridge and Leicester are all within easy reach by road.
We have great recreational facilities in the hospital including a gym. The county is renowned for a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities including the arts, theatre, parks, rugby, golf, football, sailing and motor racing amongst others.
