South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust is the largest Trust in the Tees Valley, comprising two acute sites; James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, Friarage Hospital, Northallerton and seven community hospitals. South Tees offers several major tertiary services, including cardiothoracics and vascular surgery, neurosciences, renal dialysis, a large radiotherapy centre and is a Major Trauma Centre. The Trust is a teaching centre for under and post graduate medical education and has a Radiology registrar training programme.
The Division is nationally acknowledged as one of the top performing Imaging and Interventional services. Complex vascular stenting procedures have been performed for 14 years. The NVD data base confirms excellent mortality outcomes for endovascular treatment of aortic aneurysms. The Division has its own 6 bedded Day Unit with a supporting team of skilled nurses and radiographers to support patient intervention and diagnostic procedures.
The combined departments provide a full range of digital imaging facilities including 2 x 1.5T MRI and 3 x multi-slice CT scanners and a fully equipped Endovascular room to theatre standards. There are 2 x 64 slice scanners and we are currently procuring a replacement 128 slice system which will be operational in 2014. Further 64 slice CT and 1.5T MRI machines occupy a geographically separate Neuro-imaging department with a research orientated 3T MRI machine also available for NHS cases. There is Trust-wide second generation PACS with voice recognition reporting.
Consultant Radiologists work as a strong team both within the Division and with other clinical colleagues. Weekly MDTs and clinical meetings are held across all specialities to promote best practice and patient outcomes.
We are inviting applications for an enthusiastic and skilled colleague to join this team and help expand and develop the Radiology service
